Rehearsal Profit

The last two nights of rehearsal were some of the most profitable we’ve had.

After two runs of the first major scene Nickles and Zuss attempted to go off book. While they weren’t entirely successful, they did manage most of the lines and approximated most of the rest. They got stuck once or twice, but the prompter helped and they got back on track.

But there is so much left to do and so little time to do it. We have to build four scenic elements, two of which require a fair amount of muscle to erect (platforms and stairs). One will not take much – the circus ring. One is going to take professional help – the wall of circus posters.

The stage has to be painted.

Costuming has to be purchased and distressed.

Lines still have to be learned.

Lights have to be designed and hung and the director isn’t going up on the ladder to hang them.

Meanwhile the administrative duties keep piling up – in addition to Core Curriculum, the director is also serving on a search committee and needs to move Senior Speaker forward and just got a new loan deal to refinance the house going – altogether too much work to get done while taking on the normal teaching load.

Time to get to work!
